Myriad to handle foreign on Broken Lizard’s ‘Freeloaders’
Myriad Pictures has acquired rights outside North America to the Broken Lizard comedy “Freeloaders,” which has been on the shelf more than a year.
“Freeloaders” is directed by Dan Rosen and starring Jane Seymour, Dave Foley, Olivia Munn and Clifton Collins, Jr. Myriad is selling the finished film, which hasn’t been released in the U.S., at the American Film Market.
Script, written by Rosen and Dave Gibbs, follows a group of slackers living for free in a rock star’s mansion and discover their cherished lifestyle is threatened when the musician decides to sell his pad.
Project’s produced for Broken Lizard by long-time Lizard collaborator and producer Richard Perello and Julia Dray, under the five-member filmmaking comedy group’s shingle. “Freeloaders” was brought to Broken Lizard in the early stages of development.
“When we read the script for Freeloaders, we jumped at the chance to help shepherd the filmmakers through,” said Jay Chandrasekhar of Broken Lizard. “Having been to some pretty wild parties in our lives we knew this would make a very funny movie.”
Thomas Gardner, Gregory P. Cimino II and Adam Duritz (of the band Counting Crows) are also producing. Matthew Pritzker is executive producing with his production company, Turbo Streak Entertainment.
